March 2011 Camping trip and Hike

Troop 37 camped out Friday Evening, March 4th thru Sunday Morning March 6th at the Wesleyan Camp Near Table Rock State Park. Table Rock Wesleyan Camp is a year-round camp, conference and retreat center, nestled at the foot of one the area’s most scenic mountains, Table Rock. The site has over 200 acres adjacent to Table Rock State Park in Pickens, SC.

Saturday Morning, Leaders Hal Black and Kent Dykes (K-Dog) led the older scouts, who are working on their Camping Merit Badge, on a back-packing trek from the base Camp up to the summit of Table Rock Mountain and back, with full packs with rain-gear and returned to the base camp where they pitched tents and camped out in quite rainy conditions.  This was a 10.2 mile backpacking trek.

Younger scouts stayed at the base camp and worked on advancements.
