2010 Blue and Gold Banquet

Pack 130 celebrated the 100 Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America at their annual Blue and Gold Banquet in February 2010. Since the BSA is 100 years old this year, the Pack celebrated with a birthday party, complete with games, balloons, a huge cake, and a pot-luck lunch. There were over 100 in attendance. Each table had a custom placemat the commemorated the event

There were several Rank advancements given to the boys. Our Webelos II Den had 2 boys who were super achievers and earned all 20 Activity pins offered to Webelos. Cubmaster Sam Lawrence also gave out special awards to the Adult leaders who served this year. At the close there were three pinatas full of candy that were broken open.

Each leader and Cub Scout received a special “100th anniversary of Scouting” patch that has several ribbons that can be earned. The requirements can be downloaded HERE

Pack 130 also raised over $1800 for “Friends of Scouting,” which is the Blue Ridge Council’s annual giving campaign. “Friends of Scouting” is conducted during January through May of each calendar year. During the campaign, over 5,000 parents, businesses, individuals, and community organizations are contacted and asked to support Scouting in the community. Friends of Scouting comprises 41% of the Blue Ridge Council’s operating budget. Other sources of funding include: Program Fees 29%, DCA and Popcorn Sale 15%, Council Scout Shop and other income 3%, and our seven United Way partners 14%. The growth and quality of Scouting in the Upstate of South Carolina is dependent on a successful Friends of Scouting campaign. The Blue Ridge Council is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 organization, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
